Fire Protection Law

Legislation and Fire Safety Law

We Got You Covered

Every business owner has a duty of care under various items of legislation, which includes taking action to prevent against death and injury, to employees and relevant persons, should a fire occur.

In October 2006, the existing fire safety laws changed, requiring all business owners to do a fire risk assessment. This Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, affects all non-domestic premises in England and Wales.

Under the fire safety order, the responsible person must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan.

The law applies to you if you are:

Responsible for business premises

An employer or self-employed with business premises

Responsible for a part of a dwelling where that part is solely used for business purposes

A charity or voluntary organisation

A contractor with a degree of control over any premises

Providing accommodation for paying guests
